CLUB RULES

Club Rules

The following are some of the main rules of the club for operational purposes.

All decisions made by the sub-committee should be referred to the management committee for approval. However, the management committee may elect to give the sub committee approval to make decisions on behalf of the club in certain circumstances.

All expenditure must be tabled through the management committee for approval. If required a special management committee meeting can be arranged for approvals.

Sub committee meetings should be minuted and the minutes tabled at the following management committee meeting.

Kiln firing requirements. There are special requirements for how pots are prepared for bisque and glaze firing. Before members venture into this area, a quick chat with the Ken Co-ordinators is necessary because of the complicated procedures. It can mean the difference between success and failure.

You are welcome to use the club’s many glazes, but again before trying these selections, you should either attend a workshop or at least discuss your requirements with one of the Kiln Co-ordinators. You can also ask someone who is familiar with glazes.

If you are the last to leave the club

  • Check that all doors are locked and secure.

  • Make sure lights are turned out and equipment turned off e.g. wheels.

  • Do not go near the kilns if they are on.

  • Make sure you have cleaned up after yourself (surfaces and equipment) and emptied the bowl in the back sink.

  • If towels near the clay sink are dirty or the floor needs a clean, don’t leave it for the next person. Take towels home to wash and / or wet vacuum / mop the floor.

NO CLAY or cleaning equipment in the kitchen area, only wash hands and equipment in the back sink.
